Ontario is one of the best places for tourists in Canada. No matter what you’re in the mood for, you’re guaranteed that Ontario can make your travel dreams come true.

From the most glorious mountain ranges to some of the world’s most recognized casinos, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Let’s take a look at some of the best tourist attractions you can find in Ontario.

Toronto

CN Tower Ontario

The CN tower in Ontario is the tallest building in the Americas and the best part – you can walk around the edge of it! The Skywalk isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it does give you the best views over the city as well as satisfy the adrenaline junkie in you. You get to walk around the entire building whilst in a harness that keeps your hands free.

But if your fear of heights is just too much, you can always enjoy the views of the city from the viewing platforms. You can also take in the scenery from one of the three dining rooms at the top. One of these is a revolving restaurant with 360 views so you can take in the whole city while you relax and unwind.

Skate Along The Rideau Canal

Of course, this Ontario tourist attraction is only available in the wintertime, namely in January and February but it’s well worth a visit if you’re traveling during this time. At nearly five miles long, this is the world’s largest, naturally frozen ice rink. So, not only do you get to enjoy the glorious views as you skate along, you know you’re getting a unique experience.

There are food kiosks along the way where you can sit by fires and enjoy a hot beverage to warm yourself up. This ice rink stretches from the parliament buildings in town down to the Hogs Back Falls.

The skating itself is free (although you will need to either bring or hire out skates) and is open 24 hours a day! So, no matter what the time, you can skate along to your heart’s content. Why not enjoy it by day and by night and see which one you prefer?

Explore The Great Lakes

Ontario is ideally situated for those who love basking in nature as well as enjoying city life. The city is within close proximity to four out of the five great lakes: Ontario, Superior, Huron and, Erie.

There are tours available to see each of these lakes as well as boat trips you can take to take in the beauty of each of them. There are also water sports activities such as kayaking that you can enjoy on some (but not all) of the lakes.

Hike The La Cloche Mountains

For those who love to see nature in all its glory, why not take a hike in the La Cloche Mountain range? These mountains are situated in Northern Ontario just along the northern shore of Lake Huron. This is near to Manitoulin Island which is also open to visitors.

However, this hike isn’t for the faint-hearted. If you hike the whole Silhouette Trail it takes an average of 21 hours so get prepared to camp if you venture out there. You can bring dogs along but they must be kept on a leash whilst in the mountains.

The best time of year to complete it is from May till October as the winters out there can be very harsh and don’t make the best conditions for camping.

Explore The Wineries

If the wilderness is less your thing, you might be more interested in the winery routes that Ontario has to offer. Canada might not be well known for its wines but it’s one of their best-kept secrets.

There are plenty of wineries to choose from so the only difficulty you might face is only choosing one! Niagara-on-the-Lake has the biggest number of options to choose from – from the smaller boutique wineries to the bigger and more well-known establishments.

Whatever your favorite grape, you’re bound to find a winery you love at Niagara-on-the-Lake. The best part is, you have the best views of the lake to gaze upon while you enjoy a glass or two of wine from the vineyards surrounding you.

Niagara Fallsview Casino

If a couple of glasses of wine is enough to make you want to carry on the party, we’ve got the perfect place you can finish off the night at. As the name suggests, this casino is situated right on the cusp of Niagara Falls making it the perfect combination of nature and city life.

There are over 3,500 slot machines to choose from as well as 130 gaming tables for games such as Roulette, Baccarat, Blackjack, and Craps. With over 200,000 square feet of the gaming room, you’re guaranteed to always have a new and exciting game to play.

In addition to all the gaming fun there is to enjoy, there’s a theatre that has a constant stream of popular shows for you to enjoy. You can also find the OLG Stage inside the casino which has a full timetable of amazing acts for you to enjoy while you take a break from gaming.

Ontario is one of the best places to visit if you want the perfect mix of nightlife and nature. With something new to do every day, you’re going to wish you were staying for longer!
