The rich history and culture of this area are another thing that draws tourists to Antalya.

Delicious Food

Antalya is an incredible destination to truly experience Turkish cuisine and its wide variety of flavors and spices.

Since Antalya is located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, it is known for its tasty food which is a combination of both Turkish and Mediterranean flavors.

Some of the dishes you must try during a visit to Antalya include pide, which is a Turkish pizza made with meat, cheese, and vegetables.

This is a dish very popular with holidaymakers and you will see it on several tables when you go out for an evening meal.

Turkish kebabs should also be on your list to try while in Antalya, they are made up of grilled meats and are seasoned to perfection. Adana kebab is a popular choice in this area, it is made of minced lamb.

When visiting Antalya, you will see that Meze is also a staple here. This is a selection of small dishes served as a starter. You can expect hummus, muhammara, and more to be included.

You will also find lots of options for dessert in Antalya including Kunefe which is a sweet pastry made with cheese and syrup – it’s tastier than it sounds!

Affordable Prices

Antalya is a popular choice for so many holidaymakers because of its affordable prices. This makes it a really good option if you are traveling on a budget.

In comparison to other European cities, you can expect to pay less for accommodation, food, and all attractions in the area.

For this reason, it also attracts many backpackers and budget travelers to the area.

That being said, if you are looking for luxury, you will be sure to find it in Antalya.

There is a wide range of luxury hotels, high-end restaurants, and experiences throughout the city. So whatever your price range and expectations, you will find something to suit you.

Reasons To Visit Antalya: The Cons

Although the pros may seem to outweigh the cons, there are a couple of things to know when traveling to Antalya, as these particular cons may influence your Turkey travel plans.

Crowds During Peak Season

One con to keep in mind about deciding if Antalya is a good place to go on vacation is the fact that it can be very crowded.

It is a very popular tourist destination, especially during the summer months of June, July, and August.

During these peak months, the whole city can be very crowded.

You can expect the beaches to be full of people, lines at popular attractions, and busy restaurants across Antalya. This of course can create a good atmosphere, but it may not suit everyone’s needs.

If you would prefer a quieter, more relaxed visit, it’s best to visit during the off-season months of October to April, or even the shoulder season in May or September.

Traffic Congestion

Antalya can have a lot of traffic congestion, especially during the peak season.

If you decide to drive while you’re here, or if you are getting a taxi to your next sightseeing location, you can expect some traffic, especially during rush hour.

The population of the city is growing all the time and is currently around one million people, and as a result, traffic is a big problem.

The city’s infrastructure is not built for the growing crowds and many of the roads are very narrow, causing traffic jams across the city.

The Final Verdict: So Is Antalya Worth Visiting?

So is Antalya nice, and is Antalya worth visiting? Absolutely!

Antalya is a city filled with incredible beaches, ancient, and history, and surrounded by natural beauty.

Imagine waking up and taking a stroll through the Old Town before heading to one of the beautiful beaches for the afternoon.

Doesn’t that sound just perfect?

Whether you’re more of a beach person or are looking for cultural experiences, you will find them in Antalya.

So is Antalya worth visiting? Yes indeed.

It is the perfect spot for a week-long vacation to relax, explore and enjoy everything that Turkey has to offer all within a decent budget.
