While India is slowly reopening to tourists, you may want to start planning your trip to India. We know you’ve been cramped up at home for quite some time, and a getaway in India might be the best form of cure.

India’s weather is usually predictable with the occasional unplanned monsoonal rain, but it is always healthy to carry the right things before booking your ticket.

Just like you checked if your passport is renewed, or if not agencies like TVP get it renewed in time, let our experts help you list out the five essential things to take note of when you take the trip to the far east.

Packing for India can be a bit more challenging if you’ve never been to Asia before. That said, if you like using specific products, make sure to bring them along with you.

Choose A Rugged Travel Bag

Most of you will be traveling light and packing all the essentials. Since India is a big country and traveling between destinations is done by plane, train or bus, choose a backpack over wheeled luggage. You’ll often be walking with your bag between boats, buses, and flights, and some places will not be wheel-friendly.

Choose Travel Clothing

For most parts of India, you don’t need to pack many clothes. The places you will stay will most likely have washing machine facilities, or a local laundromat can do the washing for a dollar or two.

But, pack the essentials – outdoor clothes if you are going to be climbing terrain, more swimwear if you are spending time on the beach. Avoid bringing thick clothing since the weather can get hot.

Remember to dress up conservatively in India if you prefer to avoid unwanted attention.

Accessories To Carry

If you are a digital nomad or a backpacker, you will be packing a set of accessories when you travel. Make sure to include these in your lists.

  • Travel padlocks
  • Universal adaptors
  • Ziplocks
  • Backpack rain cover (it can rain any time)

Choice Of Electronics

We all travel with quite a few electronics that we don’t even know. Some like to keep it to a bare minimum but don’t try to cut corners and not bring the essentials.

  • Laptop + charger
  • Headphones
  • Camera equipment (if you are taking photos or video)
  • Extra batteries for cameras
  • Extra charging cables (lightning or type C)
  • A high capacity power bank (since you need your phone on at all times)

Pack Your Essential Toiletries & Medication

Most toiletries and leading global brands are amply available, but it is best to bring it along if you have a specific product type. Sunblock can be expensive, and mandatorily carry any prescription medicine with you.
