Digital nomad villages have been growing in popularity, and over the last couple of years, we’ve seen a few popping up, from Croatia to Madeira.

However, we’ve never seen a nomad village open in South America before, and that’s because this is the FIRST one.

Brazil Digital Nomad Village

You may have heard of the company that is launching the village — NomadX — as it also launched Europe’s first digital nomad village in Madeira in 2021. The project was a raging success and gave Madeira’s economy a boost of $30 million.

Over 6,000 digital nomads and remote workers from all over the globe registered for the program, and now the goal is to recreate the same financial success in Brazil.

The founder of NomadX — Goncalo Hall — managed to “successfully demonstrate the economic impact such initiatives can have” to the Brazilian government. He predicts that the South American village will generate $36 million per year.

The project is underway in the beach town of Pipa, in the northeast of the country. The location was selected partly because of its close proximity to Natal International Airport and good public transportation connections.

This village has been in the works for two years and is ensuring that the impact on the local community will be a positive one.

In order to begin creating a digital nomad village, NomadX has to prepare locals for the large numbers of remote workers who will head to the town, by ensuring that local accommodation is up to scratch and WiFi speeds are good

NomadX itself doesn’t focus on building villages, but instead, pairs remote workers with accommodation and co-working spaces to give the local economy a boost.

The project is on a trial run from November 1st until April 2023.

From then, if it is deemed successful, then NomadX will continue partnering with the local municipality and state tourism board.
