I bet you already heard multiple times how traveling is bad for the environment and how we should work towards decreasing the effects of it. Flights, buses, scooters, motorbikes and so on, are all major ingredients when it comes to traveling.

Of course, we need to make use of them to move around but what if instead, there was a possibility to participate in a greener planet depending on the choice of our accommodation? The company Nature.house offers just the right service for it.

Why should you choose Nature.house when traveling?

nature house

Nature.house is a Dutch online booking platform that offers travel and holiday accommodations in the complete wilderness of nature, away from the chaos of the hectic city life. The nature houses are always situated in remote locations in the fantastic nature, and they are all different from one another. There are treehouses, cottages, bungalows, cabins, safari tents but also villas, luxury chalets, studios and so on. There is a choice for everyone’s taste. But what’s the sustainable deal of staying in one of these nature houses?

Every night that gets booked through the platform, a tree gets planted in Madagascar, Burkina Faso and Tanzania. Up to now, more than 750.000 trees have already got planted and the number is going up consistently. The goal is to reach 1 million newly planted trees by 2021. It’s the long run but they are working hard to achieve this goal, also in partnership with Eden projects, Trees org., and Birdlife International.

The reason why they decided to plan trees, is not only because they want to contribute to a better planet but also because they value the treasures of our ecosystem and the creation of a better quality of life for the smaller communities of locals in these poorer areas.

How did the concept of Nature.house come to life?

The idea of creating a business around renting houses in nature and building a tree to contribute to a better ecosystem came from the two founding brothers Tim and Luuk and their passion for birdwatching. They were looking for a hideaway place in Spain, to pursue and enjoy the most out of their passion.

When they realized they couldn’t find anything good enough for their standards, they decided to create a platform themselves to find the best spots in nature, according to what people are looking for in a holiday. And here it is, this how Nature.house was born.

How can you contribute to a better planet with Nature.house?

First of all, if you slide over to their website, you can read a lot about everything that they do, their projects and all the accommodations they offer. A great way to know more about them would be subscribing to their newsletter. Second of all, if you have some trips planned, why don’t you try to take a look at their website to see what they offer. Remember that the longer you stay in one of their nature houses, the more trees will get planted.

In this way, you could be proud of yourself and your greener environmental footprint. Last but not least, if you own a property which fits into their conditions to be the perfect nature house, why don’t you decide to list it on their platform and become a landlord yourself? It would be a great way to part with this green initiative.

Whether you become a landlord yourself or not, it is important to know that landlords in Nature.house have the right to decide their own rules, renting price and availability. You would only have to dedicate a 10% commission of the total rent to Nature.house for their service.

Where and how to find the perfect Nature.house for you?

By being a Dutch company, most of their supply is in The Netherlands and Belgium, however, they have a lot of available houses all over Europe and just some outside of it. They are planning and working hard to enlarge globally, but it’s a long way still. Depending on which kind of holiday you are looking for, there are several options for the type of houses and countries to choose from.

If you are looking for a top destination for cycling, then The Netherlands would be the perfect choice for you, with their amazing bike lanes that run all over the country.

You’re thinking about enjoying great food in a chilled atmosphere, then if I were you I would definitely go for an agriturismo in Italy. Craving a swim in a lake, why not a treehouse in Germany then? Did someone say tapas at the beach? Spain, let’s go!

The possibilities are multiple, it’s up to you what kind of accommodation suits your needs and desires. Solo travel, family holidays, luxury travel, whatever is that you’re looking for in a holiday, Nature.house provides it. A nature house is your ‘home away from home’.
