Why Every Backpacker Should Stay in Koh Lanta While in Thailand

Ready To Travel? Don't Go Without Travel Insurance.

I recommend SafetyWing Nomad Insurance, an affordable travel insurance offering automatic monthly payments that you can cancel anytime. I've been using it since 2019, and I can assure you it's the perfect solution for nomads like you and me. Learn more by reading our SafetyWing review.

In comparison to Bali, Koh Lanta is pretty tiny. You can drive around the island quickly and it’s full of great vibes! If you’re after chill vibes, amazing white sand beaches and blue waters, you should be amazed by Koh Lanta.

There are many fun bars around the island including reggae bars, paint parties and great happy hours around sunset time. You won’t get bored in Koh Lanta if you like to explore and if you like to party smoothly.

What to look out for when booking your hostel in Koh Lanta, Thailand

Personally, I love staying in hostels as it allows me to meet and connect with fellow travelers. The atmosphere is actually one of the reasons that will make me love or remember a hostel. Of course, this means you want to stay somewhere where there’s something going on!

If you aren’t comfortable with the idea of riding a scooter then you should also consider the location of your hostel so you can walk easily to every good restaurant and bar around you.

Otherwise, driving a scooter will make your life easier! If you aren’t sure if driving a scooter in Thailand is right for you yet, well, you should know that driving in Koh Lanta is pretty easy and perfect for new drivers!

The roads are wide, the traffic goes quite slow and it won’t be super overwhelming!

I’d also suggest that you read reviews when making a booking to make sure you get a positive experience out of your trip.

Staying in hostels doesn’t have to be painful! Make sure you are “hostel-ready”. Pack your earplugs, eye mask and padlock to have a positive Koh Lanta backpacking experience!
